How NOT to Pitch a Blogger (Part 1 of Many Parts)

Over on our food blog, Saucy Dipper, we receive quite a few pitches from media and PR pros. Some pitches are written well. Some are written amazingly well. And others aren’t written at all — they’re simply a regurgitation of an official press release or invitation. Read More »

September Blog Post Ideas for Your Business Blog

September Blog Post Ideas for Your Business Blog

This month I’m excited to have a bonus tip from CRO copywriter Joanna Wiebe of Copy Hackers. If you have not read the Copy Hackers blog, you’re missing out. Truly.

Now that that’s out of the way let’s get to those daily blog post ideas for September. Fall is here, and it’s time to school your blog.

1 – Notice the way I used the word “school” in the sentence above as a verb. That’s not something your English teacher would approve of, but it sure is fun to use slang. Take a trip over to Urban Dictionary and come up with blog post ideas based on slang terms (that are not totally unprofessional).

2 – September 2nd is Labor Day in the United States. Take a break from writing. Post a picture instead.

BONUS BLOGGING TIP!

“Keep an eye on your analytics. When you’re creating content, it’s easy to let yourself write about any old topic and then go see what keyword phrase to associate with it, but we’ve found a reliable way to select topics that people will care about is to go into Google Analytics and see which of our posts are bringing in the most traffic. For example, we get TONS of visitors to our old post on writing App Store descriptions, so we’re currently interviewing app creators for a new post on promoting your app.”   — Joanna Wiebe of Copy Hackers

Headline Example #2: 20 Years Ago, Tupac Broke Through

How is it possible that 20 years have passed since “Keep Ya Head Up”? I clicked on this NPR link because my college friends and I spent many-a-night with Tupac in the background. Those are some powerful memories. Read More »
